Got A Flat? How To Inflate An Innertube

A presta valve tube is inflated a little differently from a normal schrader valve (the kind found on bikes and automobiles).

First you need the right kind of pump. Or you can buy an adapter.

Step 1: Unscrew the tip of the valve. The tip does not come off (that is one of the advantages -- you can't lose it).

Step 2: Tap the tip of the valve with your finger. This lets out a tiny amount of air, and releases the valve.

Step 3: Hook the pump on. And lock it.

Step 4. Pump carefully. You don't want to damage the valve. You may want to hold the valve with your fingers to prevent breaking it.

Step 5: Remove the pump.

Step 6: Screw down the valve.
